SunCity's two worlds in one
WHEN I was asked by Sunway City Bhd (SunCity) to visit their Lost World of Tambun and Banjaran Hotsprings in Ipoh, Perak, I wasn't all that keen. I knew that the journey would "kill" me as I am not a lover of long distance driving.
Then again, I was curious as to what all the hype was about as Adeline Wong, SunCity Head of Brand & Corporate Corporate Communications, only had raving compliments of the place. So I packed up the wife and child and took a road trip to Ipoh.
Of course the journey wasn't all that great. Did I mention that I hated long distance driving? Thank God the baby slept through most of the journey.
After a "long" journey, though honestly it was only two and a half hours, we reached The Lost World of Tambun. The Lost World Hotel wasn't the typical Sunway Resort you would find in Petaling Jaya, Selangor, but it was clean, comfortable and the most hospitable and friendly staff greeted us.
After we checked into a very comfortable room, the hotel arranged for a limousine to take us on a tour of the Banjaran Hotspings.
Nestled amid lush tropical jungle and embraced by magnificent cliffs on every side, The Banjaran is luxury, and nature, bound in perfect harmony. It is a wellness retreat, hidden away from the frenetic pace of civilisation, a sanctuary for the weary and those who seek tranquility.
According to Banjaran Resort manager Anita Khoo, the Banjaran is designed for short term stays with the primary focus on health enhancement as the environment is geared towards fitness, healthy eating, relaxation and renewal. It immerses you in healthy living.
It was indeed like walking into a whole new world where all stress from your shoulders are lifted the minute you walk through the two pillars that stand as an arch to the retreat.
The immense scent of aromatherapy is in the air and the calmness is felt amongst everyone there, especially Khoo.
Immediately, I forgot the "long" drive earlier and it all became worth it. It was sheer relaxation though the journey into the retreat hadn't even begun yet.
